TRAINING

Training is a vital element of an organisation's resilience. During incidents, or in the course of accidents at the workplace, much depends on a company's preparedness and ability to cope and withstand often tremendous pressures and strains on its resources. Frequently, if not always, the first and final front against adversity is the human element. When disaster strikes it is people who have to face, withstand and ultimately prevail over it.

Through effective training, people at the individual and collective levels are conditioned and learn how to deal with circumstances and events which would otherwise overwhelm them, or worse. If a company's physical and electronic systems, policies and procedures and other elements of preparedness constitute the building blocks of its protective strategy, then training is what cements all this effort and investment in place.

In order to be effective and provide a return on the investment, training should be planned, executed to requirements, provide for effective learning and allow for improvement in individual as well as collective performance. Training records, therefore, are a very important element in structuring the effort to produce more resilient and effective persons at the workplace.
